How did the name Little Dahlia came to be? I wanted to pick a name that meant something special to me. That held a special memory.
When I was a little girl and we still lived in Holland, nearly every summer I would spend a week or so at my Grandparents home. My Oma had a large garden with veggies and also flowers. My favorite flowers that she grew were grown along the fence line. She had both Dahlias and sweet peas. Her Dahlias where so beautiful, big, full of color, texture and each one was a little different. At the end of the week when it was time to go home she and I would go to the garden fence line and pick out my favorite dahlias and bring a bouquet home for my Mom. Since that time my love for Dahlias has always been associated with my love for my Oma and her love for me and my Mom. The word little comes from; I was a little girl, and Dahlia comes from my memories of my Oma and her garden.
